The mirror at dusk - Sconce Light

THE MIRROR AT DUSK - SCONCE LIGHT (2024)
A cylindrical, elegant, handcrafted copper armature houses a lamp hidden behind a convex mirror. When the lamp remains unlit, the mirror comes to the fore. Manually cast and silver-coated, the glass reflects its surroundings. But the image it renders is deliberately imperfect. It does not represent but conveys a narrative in which the flaws of the silver and the pearlescent haze of the molten glass refer to processes of transformation and impermanence. As in a life and the skin it has marked. When the lamp spreads its soft, tentative glow, the drawings in the silvered glass are accentuated in a different and fascinating way. An interplay of light and shadow, of structures and textures, of singular nuances of colour that evoke melancholy. Further enhanced by the echoes of the copper, which make the light even warmer and more delicate, creating an environment conducive to contemplation. The Mirror at Dusk, Scone Light is available in three different sizes.
